Lamb’s Ear, or Stachys, is truly underrated perennial. This plant is fairly hardy and highly adaptable. While it can handle full sun, it may sometimes need a little afternoon shade in the hotter months. That being said, this plant is can be fairly drought tolerant. It is also deer and rabbit resistant.

Stachys displays soft, almost fuzzy, elongated silvery-gray foliage similar to the look of a lamb’s ear. It does provide a light purple bloom in the summer, barely rising above the foliage. One of the best uses for this perennial is for it to serve as a back drop to brighter blooming plants such as jewel-toned annuals. The silverygray of the lamb’s ear contrast wonderfully with these and makes a show in your landscape that leaves onlookers stunned by its beauty.
