Bagworms are here, Oklahoma!

If you have arborvitae, junipers, cypress, spruce, cedar, or other evergreen shrubs and trees, now is the time to start checking for bagworms.
These destructive pests begin as tiny caterpillars that feed on foliage and quickly build the familiar “bags” that hang from branches. Left untreated, bagworms can strip plants of their foliage and cause severe damage—especially to evergreens.
What to look for:
• Small caterpillars and tiny hanging bags
• Browning or thinning foliage
• Feeding damage on evergreens
The good news: They are easiest to control while they are young!
Healthy plants start with early action. Don’t wait until the bags are large and damage is visible!
Monterey B.t. (Bacillus thuringiensis) is an effective, organic-approved biological insecticide for controlling bagworms. It targets the larval (caterpillar) stage while remaining safe for beneficial insects, birds, and earthworms.

Cyonara Lawn & Garden (containing 0.5% Lambda-Cyhalothrin) is a highly effective, fast-acting insecticide for controlling bagworms. To maximize its effectiveness, you should apply it as a thorough foliar cover spray to all affected trees and shrubs exactly when the bagworm larvae start to hatch in the spring, as this is when they are most vulnerable.
Stop by TLC Garden Centers and we’ll help you choose the right treatment to protect your landscape before damage becomes severe.
